The song, “Cowboy Up… Riding For America,” began in Alberta, Canada just days after the attacks of 9 / 11. Mark Holt & Kimberlee Holt Tully wrote this Western flavored remembrance of that horrible day at the request of Head Wrangler & the International HorseBack TrailRide.

The following is an excerpt of a letter to Mark Holt & Kimberlee Holt Tully from Patricia Guymon, “Cowboy For Kids,” The World Championship Wild Horse Racing Director:
“Thank you. I just read the song and the words that you wrote, and know that each and every cowboy or cowgirl knows in their heart it is right, and you were able to place it to words.
“Its people like you and its what this country was founded on and what we live each day for. The America sprit and dreams come from deep within each of us, and we must each pass along a message, in our own unique way.
“So thanks, and keep up the great work… and do more, because the Spirit of a cowboy never lies still when the wind blows north, south, east or west. The Heart of a cowboy has a never-ending rope that will gather those who need to be lead and comfort those who need to find a way.
“We don’t know which direction we must lead, we just know the cowboys must lead.”
